(More customer reviews)I have owned the PUR Ultimate for over a year and am very pleased with it, so when it came time to find another water filter for the office, I again turned to PUR. This time I chose the Advantage instead of the Ultimate due to its smaller profile. I assumed that I would again be pleased, but instead I am very disappointed.
The reservoir, lid and filter of the Advantage all loosely fit together and will all slide apart when you pour from the pitcher if you do not hold them in place. PUR could have done a better job by making sure that the fits were tighter or using rubber gaskets. Since the purpose of the pitcher is to pour water, it is probably a matter of time before someone forgets to hold the lid on while pouring and everything comes apart, making a huge mess.
The actual filter of the Advantage is no where near as good as the Ultimate at filtering out bad things from the water. Also, the directions for the Advantage state that there will be a residue of charcoal the first few times that you fill the pitcher with water and that this water should be discarded. However, I still see residue even after filling the pitcher multiple times. Why buy this filter to help purify the water when it adds other impurities in their place? Furthermore, the Advantage filter costs $7.99 for one vs the $19.88 for 3 of the Ultimate. It costs you more for less when you buy the Advantage.
In summary, don't waste your money on this pitcher. Either take the step up to the Ultimate or get another brand.
