Price Pfister 049-YP1E Ashfield Widespread Trough Lavatory Faucet with Pop-Up, Rustic Pewter Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)About two years ago, we did a minor amount of remodeling in one of our bathrooms. About all it amounted to was a new sink/vanity, but, of course, that also involved choosing a new faucet. We chose the Price Pfister Trough faucet in pewter, as illustrated here.
We love the looks of the faucet, it was fairly easy to install and it seems to work fine. However, I have a couple reservations. If the faucet is left to barely run (literally, drip by drip), the water runs backwards on the underside of the water spout until it arrives on the vertical shaft. It then runs downward onto the sink and escapes wherever it can go. We've had several very minor floods, which don't amount to much but which can cause mold if not discovered in time. Of course, the obvious solution to this problem is to make certain the faucet is completely off after every use. Also obvious, this is a flaw in the basic design of the faucet.
A second problem is gradually becoming apparent. The interior of the water trough is corroding. It's minor, at present, but if the faucet is only two years old and showing corrosion already, it can only get worse. It's a nice looking faucet, but not without flaws.
