(More customer reviews)I left this review already for the larger size of this sink before I realized (duh) I actually have this one, the smaller size. I decided to leave the same review since it's the same sink, just smaller.
Bottom line is, this sink is not for everyone. It's a specialty sink but if you cook a lot and have a dedicated prep area OR host a lot of parties and want a great serving sink - this is one of a kind. You either want it or you don't. Think of it as a tray with a drain. Put fruit in an attractive colander, rinse and leave in the sink for serving. Keep an ice bucket on one side, soda on the other and let people pour over the tray. It's more practical than you would think.
I have an old home with an unusual layout. We've remodeled many things over the years and often had to look for creative solutions. For example, this sink. Sure, it's expensive but not as expensive as re-routing plumbing or knocking down a wall. In our case, the "ideal" kitchen triangle wasn't possible without a major redo. A simplier solution was to add a second sink for cooking. Problem is, I had two sinks in the last house and all I ended up with was TWO sinks of dirty dishes. (teenagers...). I also found that my family members seem to prefer cutting fruit, meat, whatever - on the counter instead of over the sink. I put a stainless steel tray down for juicy things but thought "it would sure be great if there was a tray with a drain!".
I googled "tray sink" and what do you know? This sink appeared! I wondered if the unusual style would be impractical but went with my gut instinct and it's great! I have a hot/cold drinking water faucet installed on one side and a sprayer on the other. It's great for rinsing crates of fruit from Costco, Farmer's Market etc. I got the cutting board made for it, which fits over one side and slides from side to side. When kids make sandwiches, the crumbs are right there on the board, one sweep away from the disposal instead of all over the counter. (Sounds like I live with pigs, I know).
I'm just saying, while I realize it's not for everyone, if you have room for a second sink, a "prep" sink - consider this instead of the traditional tiny bar sink that isn't much more than a drain.
